People In Crisis, Inc. (P.I.C. Inc) was founded by Ms. Lana Samuels in 2003. It is a 501 C-3 non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide financial, medical, and emotional assistance to individuals in the country who suffer from extreme physical ailments and debilitating medical conditions and who lack sufficient medical insurance to cover their needs. These individuals are real people who have “fallen through the cracks” of the system. People In Crisis, Inc., provides them with hope by assisting them with their financial and medical needs so that they can maintain a sustainable quality of life. Thankfully, the AstraZeneca Corporation has been our most generous supporter; however, P.I.C. Inc is still far short of its goal of raising $2,000,000.00 by the end of 2012 to cover the needs of the many people who are unable to satisfy their medical needs for their survival.
Unfortunately, many people in our country needlessly suffer because they are unable to satisfy their most basic medical and survival needs that many of us take for granted, such as: obtaining proper dental care, paying for medications, obtaining transportation to health care appointments and accessing
lifesaving therapies that fall outside the coverage of their current insurance. P.I.C. inc helps individuals by enlisting the financial support of corporations and private donors who provide funds which are used to assist these individuals to satisfy their survival needs. P.I.C. Inc also brings awareness of the existence of resource programs such as the Prescription Savings Programs offered by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and other Pharmaceutical companies which provides free and discount medications to qualifying patients. Through these programs, patients who qualify can obtain medications for free or receive discount cards making their cost more affordable. Sadly, many people are not aware such programs exist, or they lack the energy and knowledge to navigate what they fear is a complicated application process. P.I.C. Inc assists patients complete these applications and has been successful obtaining free
medications for qualifying clients.
